This is *Maguschild’s contest prize from last month’s theme contest at #Shiny-Pokemon-FTW. They asked for some Shiny Suicune fan-art 
I have no idea why I did a background that sort of looks like the one in Nyan Cat. I guess I just really had no clue what else to do in that big white space
Yeah, I suck at backgrounds. It is something I need to improve on

Vision Originality
Technique ImpactThe action of the character is really clear in this, as is the emotion on its face. The hair really helps to continue the action portrayed by the rainbow and further defines the creatures movement from the right side of the image to the left.
The issue that stands out most to me is the way you used the colored pencils. When you use them, you should try to lay down color in tight circles to keep those unwanted lines out of your work. Also, you may want to thicken the upper portion of the creature's right front leg, it looks just a little puny for the angle you chose.
The foot in teh foreground looks as if it just struck the surface there, so you might add a little spray of the water droplets that would fly up from that.
