Description
My entry for a contest at #ColoredPencilPokemon
This is a similar theme to that of the Vulpix/Ninetales line. A Japanese myth describes a nine-tailed fox that bestows curses on those who behold it. My evolutionary line concept stems partly from this theory.
Basic: Fennekin
Type: Fire
Name: Seems to originate from “fennec” (the design is based on a fennec fox)
Its large ears help to regulate its body heat. To cool down, it waves them like a fan. When angry, it blows red-hot fireballs at its opponent. These are hot enough to melt small rocks.
Stage 1: Foxire
Type: Fire
Name: Fox + Fire
As it grows older, its tail starts to split into two. Because it no longer regulates its body temperature with its ears, its internal fire burns even hotter. It doesn’t often burn its prey however; it prefers to gouge at them with its sharp teeth & claws.
Stage 2: Pyranek
Type: Fire/Dark
Name: Pyre + Fennec (“pyre” means fire or flame)
The fully grown Pyranek stands confidently on its hind legs. It can move more swiftly this way, using its powerful forepaws to catch and slice its prey. While its tails can make good weapons, they are not often used in combat. It is said that touching a Pyranek’s tail brings bad luck.
